Canal boat holidays in Northamptonshire: Museums renamed

People considering canal boat holidays in Northamptonshire have been told that the waterways museums located at Stoke Bruerne and Gloucester are getting new names to highlight their links with the local community.

The museum at Gloucester is to be called Gloucester Waterways Museum, while Stoke Bruerne's will return to its original name of the Canal Museum.

Chief executive of the Waterways Trust Roger Hanbury said that visitor numbers are continuing to increase at all three of the organisation's museums, suggesting that they remain popular attractions for those on canal boat holidays in the UK.

'The first step on this road is the change of name,' he went on to say.

'As funding becomes available we will then start to re-focus the story and collection to celebrate the local heritage.'

Gloucester Waterways Museum is located in a Grade II listed warehouse on Gloucester Docks, where visitors can go aboard a range of different boats.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19724058-ADNFCR
