Scotland canal boat holidays: JM Barrie exhibition launched

A new exhibition has been set up to celebrate 150 years since the birth of author JM Barrie and could be the perfect stop-off for those on Scotland canal boat holidays.

Many items belonging to him are on display, including a christening gown, which is said to have been of huge significance to his surviving family.

Kirriemuir cottage is due to open its doors on May 9th following the hard work of volunteers who have been researching Barrie's life.

'We are thrilled that the birthplace is playing such a central part in Kirriemuir's celebrations in this historic year,' commented Trust property manager John McKenna, who takes care of the location.

He hopes that people will travel from all over to see the exhibition and hopefully ensure the memory of Barrie lives on for many years to come.

Perhaps his most famous work is Peter Pan, which has been made even more popular due to Walt Disney's film adaptation. ADNFCR-2853-ID-19765225-ADNFCR
