Mr Underhill's 'good stop for those on canal boat holidays in Shropshire'

Those on canal boat holidays in Shropshire should make sure they stop by Mr Underhill's, in Ludlow, as Harden's restaurant guide recently named it the best place to eat in Britain outside London.

Emma Sturgess, writing for the Guardian, praised the simple design and environment that its owners have created.

Each of the tables look out over the gardens and everybody enjoys the same seven-course daily menu.

She said: '[Owners] Chris and Judy Bradley are right - the cutting edge may be very sharp, but at Mr Underhill's, familiarity breeds pleasure.'

Ms Sturgess stated that the chef is self-taught and the premises are small but straightforward - 'lovely' and not 'grand'.

Those on canal boat holidays in Shropshire can visit the restaurant for dinner but Mr Underhill's does not have a lunch-time menu, she added.
