Shropshire canal boat holidays can include a spot of detective work

For all those people who fancy themselves as a bit of a Sherlock Holmes, Blists Hill Victorian Town in Ironbridge Gorge has just the challenge.

People on canal boat holidays in Shropshire can embark on a murder mystery tour later this month (August 14th - 15th).

Visitors can help the world-famous detective and his trusted assistant Dr Watson uncover the mystery of who stole treasures from the Earl of Craven's mansion.

Youngsters can also help out, taking finger prints and engaging with forensic science, organisers claim.

In addition to the sleuthing, guests will be taking around the old town by a horse-drawn hansom cab and hear the stories of the time performed by the resident theatre group.

The town itself is an accurate reconstruction of a Victorian town, where kids can learn about 19th-century people and watch them go about their daily business.

Ironbridge's Museum of the Gorge is also to hold a number of murder mystery plays throughout the summer period.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19916892-ADNFCR
