Etruria tours 'could be perfect for canal boat holidays in Staffordshire'

Canal boat holiday in Staffordshire fans will be able to explore the Etruria as part of a special event focusing on the waterway's role in Stoke-on-Trent.

A walk will be held exploring the role of the canal system to the history of the city and these will be run by Glenn Airey, from the Etruria Industrial Museum.

The walks will take in the old Wedgwood factory, Etruria Hall and Festival Park and will give an overview of the industrial and social history of the area.

Louise North, project officer for Canals for the Community, claimed that the city's waterways used to be its motorways and provided real prosperity to the area.

'It's no surprise that they were home to some colourful characters and sites of interest!' she exclaimed.

Stoke-on-Trent waterways are also going to benefit from a woodland management scheme that is designed to improve the quality of the surroundings for those on canal boat holidays.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19584789-ADNFCR
