Kidderminster hosts first-ever canal festival

Canal boat fanatics were in for a treat last weekend as Kidderminster held its first ever festival for the ever-popular pastime.

Held between August 19th and 21st, the event formed part of the ReWyre Regeneration Initiative in collaboration with a number of organisations, including British Waterways.

It celebrated the history of the Staffordshire & Warwickshire canal and its enduring importance for people in the town of Kidderminster.

Among the highlights of the festival was the presence of the Dreamcatcher passenger barge, which provided trips up and down the famous canal.

A funfair, live entertainment and guided walks also offered entertainment to visitors over the weekend.

British Waterways recently offered some suggestions of how to enjoy canals over the forthcoming bank holiday weekend, including bike rides and picnics.

Should the weather be less than favourable, it recommended taking a trip to a canal-side pub and watching the world go by.ADNFCR-2853-ID-800036220-ADNFCR
