Tarrant 'unlocks magic' of canal boat holidays in Staffordshire

One famous face has been in Stoke-on-Trent over recent weeks to film a new programme on the area, it has been revealed.

Chris Tarrant, perhaps best-known for hosting the ITV show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, is involved in the filming of Unlocking the Midlands.

The show reveals how the invention of the slim-line lock has helped transform canal boat holidays in Staffordshire and is set to be shown on May 17th.

Tarrant also finds out how the UK's canal network was revolutionised by the work of engineer James Brindley, as he overcame problems such as upward gradients and excessive costs.

The programme forms part of the BBC's partnership with the British Museum entitled A History of the World.
