BATHED IN LIGHT

Following a hugely successful first festival in November 2010, illuminate Bath returns for another fantastic light extravaganza from 25th to 28th January. Banishing the winter gloom of January the 'festival of light' will include seven original installations in public spaces, all of which will be completely free for the public to explore. The event has been a year in the making and has something to captivate all ages. The festival will include work by international and local artists, alongside art created by Bath school children and Art and Design students from Bath Spa University. with each other and with the audience in this fast paced, exhilarating showcase. Illuminate Bath is organised by Bath Spa University and RELAYS, a London 2012 legacy project based in universities across the south west of England that aims to inspire young people to volunteer, try new sports and be creative. Richard Crowe, the London 2012 creative programmer, said This free event is part of the Cultural Olympiad that runs in parallel with the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is a UK wide festival of national and international work. In the south west the programme is locally distinctive and a showcase for the best regional talent.
