Basingstoke Canal conservation area expanded

The conservation area alongside Basingstoke Canal has been extended, which could interest those looking at canal boat holidays in the region.

Hart District Council made the decision after consulting with local parties for the best part of a year, ThisIsHampshire.net reports.

As a result of the ruling, it will be harder for changes to be made to the area, whether this is through the creation of new properties or the demolition of existing buildings, which could preserve the picturesque area for those on canal boat holidays in the region.

Andrew Ratcliffe, district council landscape and conservation manager, tells the news provider: 'As a leisure resource, the Basingstoke Canal is hugely beneficial to the area and in terms of preservation the document provides a more robust support.'

In other news, the Bath Chronicle has advised that Bradford-on-Avon is one of the best destinations for those on canal boat holidays in Wiltshire to visit.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19532449-ADNFCR
