Boat hire: September sees last-minute holiday boost

Holidaymakers seem to be taking their breaks later this year, not least because of a particularly hectic summer, an expert has identified.

Head of product at lowcostholidays.com Matt Hall highlighted that people are seeking to get away in September as opposed to the typical July and August, potentially on canal boat holidays.

'I think that is part of it is with everything that happened in the summer - the World Cup, the ash cloud - all those bits and pieces definitely pushed everything back later,' he continued.

Mr Hall emphasised that people's confidence in taking holidays is starting to improve, which is being seen across many travel companies where more bookings are being taken.

His comments follow figures released by the Office for National Statistics, which showed that more overseas visitors came to the UK between April and June, when compared to the previous three-month period.ADNFCR-2853-ID-800043518-ADNFCR
