Canal boat hire: Britons ready to holiday again

The demand for holidays seems to have perked up this year, as a new survey from Trip Advisor shows people are just itching to get away.

Three-quarters (76 per cent) of people questioned revealed they would take a summer break this year, while just 11 per cent said they would not.

Furthermore, a fifth believed they would be spending more on their holiday than they did in 2009, while 22 per cent will be seeking to reduce costs.

Emma O'Boyle, spokesperson for Trip Advisor, commented: 'It's been a tough two years for the travel industry but it seems we have turned a cautious corner.'

It also appears that people are keen to switch off from work when they go on their summer holiday, as 62 per cent of respondents admitted to not being tempted to check their emails.

This follows results from an Adfero street poll, showing 80 per cent of people will have similar holiday plans to last year when booking in 2010.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19825371-ADNFCR
