Discover myths and legends on narrowboat holidays

VisitEngland is inviting holidaymakers to take a look at some of the greatest myths and legends ever to be told on these shores.

It has compiled a list of destinations for people on narrowboat holidays to take a look at if they fancy adding something mystical to their breaks.

For example, it recommends learning more about the Pendle Witches, or heading down to Zennor Cove in Cornwall to listen out for the sounds of Matthew Trewallah singing to his mermaid love.

Amanda Smyth, head of marketing for VisitEngland, believes people's love for the big screen will help them decide where to visit this summer.

'Films, and the stories behind them, provide some of the most potent inspiration for people planning holidays in this country,' she commented.

VisitBritain expects the new Ridley Scott film Robin Hood will encourage tourists to take a look at the locations used for filming all over the UK. ADNFCR-2853-ID-19807192-ADNFCR
