Droitwich looks forward to canal boating future

Following the restoration of the Barge Canal, Droitwich is hoping that a new era of canal boating lays ahead of it, British Waterways has revealed.

For the first time in 80 years, a boat is set to pass through the town in what is expected to be the start of a new boating sensation in the region.

British Waterways senior regeneration manager Jason Leach noted that the vessels will be just in time for the Salt Day celebrations, scheduled to take place on September 11th.

'This £12 million project to restore the Barge and Junction Canals will unlock the entire ring, a green waterway corridor for communities and a magnet for visiting boaters,' he commented.

British Waterways is currently encouraging the public to take part in its wildlife survey, which invites them to log any information about species they see in and around UK canals.ADNFCR-2853-ID-800049746-ADNFCR
