Regent's Canal renovations 'will end by March 26th'

Maintenance work is to be carried out on the Regent's Canal and towpath in East London in order to keep this site in top condition for fans of canal boat holidays.

British Waterways has announced that it will be investing more than £500,000 in this project, which is set to be completed by March 26th.

Simon Bamford, waterway manager at the organisation, claims that it is great to see the site getting the care and attention that it deserves.

He states: 'Over a 100,000 people enjoy the Regent's Canal every year for boating, walking, cycling, jogging and just getting away from the hustle of the city streets for a while.'

Mr Bamford says it can sometimes be easy to forget that these waterways are pieces of working heritage that are over 200 years old.

The group recently called for drivers to be more careful when crossing hump-back bridges over canals, citing the frequent number of collisions that take place on these structures.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19619300-ADNFCR
