River Lee renovations 'good for canal boat holidays'

A major series of renovations has been completed alongside the River Lee, which could be good news for those on canal boat holidays.

British Waterways (BW) has announced that a mile stretch of the towpath has been completed following £216,000 of visitor improvements.

Travelling through the Lee Valley Regional Park, there are numerous expanses of lakes and waterways that those on canal boat holidays can enjoy.

Antonia Zotali, senior project manager for BW, highlighted the popularity of this stretch, with everyone from anglers to walkers.

She said: 'The towpath, which is over 20 years old, had become worn and uneven, meaning that when it rained some very large puddles were created.'

Those on canal boat holidays in the area will now be able to use its benches, lock furniture and renovated mooring bollards.

Visitors on a trip along the Grand Union waterway will also be able to benefit from improved maintenance.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19582345-ADNFCR
