Rochdale Canal Festival praised for success

Rochdale Canal Festival has received widespread praise for the success of its varied events and turnout.

Locals and Brits on canal boat holidays flocked in their thousands to the event, which took place between July 24th and August 1st, according to Waterscape.

Events included family wildlife nature trails, arts, crafts and sports activities, including climbing sessions and bird box making.

The Waterways Trust's Rochdale Canal Development Manager Lucy Rogers told Waterscape: 'It was a fantastic festival week, the different events and activities really brought the canal to life and showed people just what the waterway and its environment has to offer.

'This year there were lots of new activities on offer including canoe sessions, lantern making workshops and an illuminated boat and lantern parade.'

The final day of the festival saw Calder Navigation Society hosting a number of free boat rides and a horseboating harness demonstration.ADNFCR-2853-ID-800022163-ADNFCR
