Canal boat holidays in Wales: Classical festival has an all-star lineup

People on canal boat holidays in Wales this summer may wish to pay a visit to the country's oldest classical music festival - a two-week-long feast that this year marks its 77th anniversary.

The Gregynog Festival, which runs between June 8th and 21st, takes the theme of 'Pleasure Gardens' this year, meaning that the performances will be inspired by famous and beautiful gardens.

International pianist Noriko Ogawa has created a programme of Romantic and contemporary music to reflect the tranquility of a Japanese garden.

Meanwhile, those on canal boat holidays in Wales can see Dame Emma Kirkby, who along with the London Handel Players will be playing music written by Thomas Arne for the Vauxhall Gardens, as well as 'Queen of Harps' Catrin Finch.

Last year, the Gregynog Festival played host to artists including world-class choir ensemble The Sixteen, soloists Elin Manahan Thomas, the Dufray Collective and the Kungsbacka Piano Trio.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19713807-ADNFCR
