Celebrations planned for launch of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

People on canal boat holidays in Wales may find they come across some celebrations along the Llangollen Canal.

Tomorrow (August 14th), a celebratory fun day will be held to mark the launch of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which is finally reaching completion following a two-year project.

Community development officer Piers Warburton revealed that around 40 stalls will be available for people to enjoy, including a guess the name of the sheep competition.

The festivities start at 12:00 BST and will continued throughout the day, he revealed.

'It is the passion and dedication of individuals who are taking on new skills that will really deliver benefits as visitor numbers to this unique and beautiful region increase,' Mr Warburton commented.

British Waterways recently recommended a number of ways to be thrifty on canal boat holidays, including taking picnics or walking and cycling alongside the country's canal network. ADNFCR-2853-ID-800025048-ADNFCR
