Canal boat holidays in Worcestershire: Towpath restoration nears end

People planning canal boat holidays in Worcestershire have been told that the first section major project to renovate a towpath along the Worcester and Birmingham Canal will soon be complete.

The completed foot and cycleway towpath will involve 4.5 miles of resurfacing and will link the Diglis Basin with Sixways rugby ground, Worcester News reports.

Derek Prodger, transport chief for Worcestershire County Council, said that it is not just people on canal boat holidays in Worcestershire who are set to benefit from the improvements.

'This work will help create better cycling and walking routes for the schools nearby, which compliments our school travel plan work and helps reduce congestion meaning safer, healthier journeys for everyone,' he told the newspaper.

In other news, the Tewkesbury Admag reports that a programme of training courses to boost Worcestershire's tourism and events skills has been launched by conference-worcestershire, which may benefit those enjoying canal boat holidays in the county.ADNFCR-2853-ID-19669689-ADNFCR
