Canal boat holidays in Worcestershire 'can take in plum festival'

People on canal boat holidays in Worcestershire will be well positioned to take in the historical Pershore Plum Festival on the stay.

Taking place next year at the Worcester racecourse, visitors will be able to enjoy a number of plum-themed races as part of the celebrations, the Evesham Journal reports.

It will include events such as the Land o'Plum Chase and Pershore Plum Handicap, with a purple colour theme running throughout the festival.

Angela Tidmarsh, chairman of the event, tells the news provider that there will also be a number of exhibitions about the traditional races.

She says: 'We are trying to find out the last time the races were run and are looking for any items, newspaper cuttings and the like featuring the Pershore races to make up the exhibition.'

Alternatively, the Worcester City Museum and Art Gallery is running a number of events perfect for those in the city on a barge holiday, with a Victorian Christmas fair taking place at the Commandery on December 19th and 20th. ADNFCR-2853-ID-19494551-ADNFCR
