Victorian Christmas festivities on offer for those on barge holidays

Worcester City Museum and Art Gallery is putting on a variety of Christmas events to keep those on barge holidays entertained in December.

On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, visitors can enjoy a Victorian Christmas at the Commandery, delving into the history of the festive period.

The event, which is ideal for the family, gives visitors the opportunity to meet Victorian servants making Yuletide preparations.

They can learn about how the Victorians made Christmas pudding and twelfth night food, plus Yuletide customs and traditions through the ages.

A Victorian Christmas at the Commandery costs £5.40 for adults and £2.30 for children and will run from 10:00 to 17:00 GMT on the Saturday and 13:30 to 17:00 GMT on the Sunday.

Those on barge holidays who want to add to the Victorian experience can also visit the Victorian Christmas Fayre on Friar Street in Worcester.

Taking place from Thursday December 2nd to Sunday December 5th, it will feature period street performers and carol singers.
