Worcestershire plum festival 'a typically-quirky event'

The Pershore Plum Festival is just the kind of quirky event that British holidaymakers are looking for these days, it is claimed.

People enjoying canal boat holidays in Worcestershire can experience a variety of different activities, including the running of the Land O'Plums Hurdle at Worcester Racecourse on August 6th.

Also enticing visitors will be fairground rides, arts and crafts, archery and music, as well as specially-made plum ales and cuisine.

Simon Tipple from Visit Worcestershire says this type of event is typical of the kind of thing that attracts people on canal boat holidays and other holidaymakers.

'You want to be able to enjoy yourself and these events just add a bit of quirkiness and a bit of passion to what we're all about. Plum Festival draws in thousands of visitors every year,' he explained.

Visit Worcestershire recently produced a special guide for food lovers wanting to visit the region, pointing out the places with the best local delicacies and the location of the county's farmers' markets.
