If it is your first canal holiday, please DON’T WORRY. Our experienced staff will ensure that everything is explained and demonstrated and you will be given practical instruction in boat handling at the start of your cruise.
The instructions given at the marina are intended to complement ‘The Boater’s Handbook’ published by British Waterways. Please can you ensure that you and all of your crew carefully read ‘The Boater’s Handbook’ before you start your holiday.
The handbook gives you all the boating basics – the essential knowledge and techniques you will need to make sure you enjoy yourselves and stay safe. The handbook is designed for newcomers to boating but is also a handy reminder for more experienced boaters.
In part one you are taken through the nitty-gritty of handling your boat. In part two you’ll fine important safety rules to help you keep you out of trouble. Part three gives you the basic rules of the road and part four is about respecting the environment, the wildlife and other waterway users.
